FAA Announces Drone Registration Before February 2016

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that ALL drone owners who owns a drone, quadcopter or unmanned aerial vehicle which weighs more than 9 ounces must register their unit by February 16, 2016.

The registration is absolutely free ($5 will be refunded) for the first 30 days beginning December 21, 2015. After, January 21, 2016, it will costs only $5 and you must be at least 13 years old.

Every 3 years, you must re-register your drone.

The website to register is at www.faa.gov/uas/registration

This will make drone owners more responsible and easily catch the bad violators.

The registration only covers consumers, hobbyists and civilian pilots.

Drones used for military, naval, police, fire fighting or other commercial purposes do not have to register at this time.

However, this will certainly change in the near future.
